Thermal Science Learning System
T7081
Refrigeration, Compressor, Phase Change, & Evaporator Skills
Amatrol’s Thermal Science Learning System (T7081) provides the equipment and curriculum needed to explore the scientific principles behind HVAC/R, refrigeration, geothermal, steam, and other thermal systems. Learners conduct hands-on experiments involving temperature, pressure, heat transfer, gas laws, thermal expansion, phase change, evaporative cooling, and refrigeration thermodynamics.
This tabletop learning system organizes its components on a vertical panel for convenient access, identification, and inventory. Components such as a fire syringe, vacuum hand pump, bimetallic ball-and-ring apparatus, temperature-measurement devices, and heat-transfer materials can be arranged in different combinations to demonstrate thermal principles through observable experiments.
Explore Thermal Principles Through Hands-On Experiments
The T7081 helps learners connect thermal-science theory with physical results they can measure and observe. Using the included vacuum hand pump, for example, learners reduce the pressure inside a container of warm water until the water boils, demonstrating the relationship between pressure and boiling point.
During thermal-expansion activities, learners apply heat to different materials and observe how temperature changes affect their dimensions. Other experiments examine conduction, convection, radiation, latent and sensible heat, specific heat, vapor pressure, phase equilibrium, and the laws of thermodynamics.
Interactive Thermal Science Curriculum
Amatrol’s interactive multimedia curriculum introduces foundational thermal concepts before progressing to their application in refrigeration and HVAC/R systems. Major areas of study include thermal energy, temperature measurement, heat transfer, thermodynamic laws and properties, phase change, refrigeration thermodynamics, and heat-pump operation.
The curriculum combines narrated text, illustrations, videos, 3D animations, interactive exercises, quizzes, and hands-on activities. Learners study each concept and then apply it using the T7081 equipment, reinforcing both technical understanding and practical problem-solving skills.
Build a Foundation for Advanced HVAC/R Training
The Thermal Science Learning System provides a strong starting point for learners preparing to work with more advanced HVAC/R equipment. After developing a foundation in temperature, pressure, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, learners can progress to Amatrol’s Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Operations Learning System (T7082) or the Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Troubleshooting Learning System (T7082A).
The T7082 applies thermal-science principles to the operation and adjustment of a working air-conditioning and heat-pump system. The T7082A adds Amatrol’s FaultPro electronic fault-insertion system for structured troubleshooting practice.
Student Reference Guide
A sample Thermal Science Student Reference Guide is included with the system for evaluation. Derived from the complete curriculum, the guide consolidates key technical content and learning objectives into a convenient reference learners can keep and use after completing their training. Additional copies may be purchased for classroom or program use.
