Commercial Refrigeration
Commercial refrigeration is essential for industries such as supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, and more to extend product shelf life. When these systems fail, skilled technicians must respond quickly to minimize downtime and product loss. However, with the ongoing skills gap in HVACR and other trades, finding qualified technicians can be a challenge. Amatrol helps bridge this gap by providing future technicians with hands-on, real-world training in commercial refrigeration.
The Amatrol T7400 Commercial Refrigeration Learning System prepares students to operate and troubleshoot a wide range of systems, including refrigerated display cases, walk-in coolers and freezers, and commercial air conditioning units. Learners will gain experience in system operation and adjustment, smart controller programming, airflow measurement, and troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical components.
The T7400 includes a mobile workstation equipped with a semi-hermetic compressor, evaporators, expansion and solenoid valves, defrost controls, adjustable airflow fans, and more. It also integrates FaultPro, Amatrol’s advanced fault-insertion software, which allows students to safely practice troubleshooting. The package comes complete with Amatrol’s interactive multimedia curriculum, plus an install guide, instructor’s guide, and student reference guide.
Learning Topics
- Introduction to Commercial Refrigeration
- Semi-Hermetic Compressors

Hands-On Skills and Troubleshooting Practice
The T7400 uses real-world mechanical and electrical components to deliver authentic hands-on training. Students will adjust pressure settings on dual pressure controls using the semi-hermetic compressor, configure and monitor a smart refrigeration controller for single-zone operation, and work with two evaporators to build a multi-evaporator system. Using the Plexiglass chamber, learners can demonstrate temperature control in a confined space and safely measure airflow parameters such as velocity, static pressure, and total pressure.
FaultPro software adds realistic troubleshooting practice, enabling instructors to insert more than 35 safe, electronic faults. Students will diagnose and correct issues with mechanical components, electrical components, and full refrigeration systems, including both single-zone and multi-evaporator configurations.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Amatrol’s multimedia curriculum combines text, narration, 3D graphics, and animations to engage multiple learning styles. Training topics include electrical defrost control, configuring smart controllers with electric expansion valves, and integrating HVACR devices via Ethernet and Wi-Fi. By course completion, students will have the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to succeed as smart commercial refrigeration technicians.
Student Reference Guide
A sample Commercial Refrigeration Student Reference Guide is included for evaluation. Derived from the full curriculum, this bound guide condenses technical content into an affordable reference tool. It supports classroom instruction and provides students with a lasting resource they can use long after training is complete.
