• CM Labs Heavy Equipment Simulators

CM Labs’ Excavator Simulator Training Pack immerses trainees in a virtual environment that promotes rapid skills acquisition — from excavating and trenching to trailer loading, safety corridor management, and more. By training operators in this virtual world, organizations will see reduced wear and tear on their equipment while reducing risks to trainees and other personnel.

Key features & benefits

The Excavator Simulator Training Pack focuses on the three training pillars of safety, technique, and efficiency. While it automatically detects safety violations — including contacts with power lines or people, hazardous load trajectories, and turnovers — it also captures objective scores to indicate technical proficiency, including completion time, movement efficiency and accuracy, bucket efficiency, and more.

  • Crane Operator Training Simulators

The Vortex® Luffing Tower Crane (LTC) Training Pack is part of CM Labs’ catalog of Vortex construction training packs. From controls familiarization to erecting a steel structure, student operators who train with Vortex simulators develop the experience, skills, and worksite awareness they need to master safe operations while reducing training costs by up to 75%.

Key features & benefits

With the LTC Training Pack, student operators learn to work in a dense urban environment. With safety as a key concern, the LTC training pack provides the opportunity to gain experience transferable to the real world and develop skills, without any risk to the crane, themselves, or others.

  • CM Labs Simulation Trainers

CM Labs’ Motor Grader Training Pack is today's most advanced grader simulation. From controls familiarisation and grader positioning to windrow management, material spreading, and V-ditch creation, operators who train on Vortex® simulators develop the aptitude and skills they need to master efficient motor grader operations.

Key features & benefits

CM Labs’ Motor Grader Training Pack is a complete learning solution for grader operations. It gives trainees the distinctive feeling of pushing soil, essential for an immersive motor grader training experience. It is also the only training solution on the market that allows trainees to learn how to operate a high-precision blade and manage real-life advanced effects such as side-draft, which require specific skills. The training pack also incorporates self-guided learning features, including previews of each training exercise, and best-practice hints.

Affordable Classroom Training for New Operators

Lift your training standards with the Vortex Edge simulator

Designed to facilitate professional, structured classroom training for new operators, the Vortex Edge simulator is a truly flexible training tool that allows you to deploy a virtual machine to demonstrate machine components, safe operator practices, and equipment behavior.

With the Vortex Edge, you’ll save time developing course materials, and benefit from the same level of professional simulation that powers the Vortex simulators used by training schools and fleet owners all over the world.

A new solution for bridging the skills gap

Not every organization has the time, manpower, or equipment available for training when needed. That all changes with the Vortex Edge Max.

Part of CM Labs’ Edge series of award-winning training products, the Vortex Edge Max is an entry-level tool that develops transferable operator skills. The Vortex Edge Max replicates the motion and feel of actual construction equipment and comes embedded with CM Labs’ Smart Training TechnologyTM — assuring a solution that delivers the most transferable operator skills anywhere outside actual equipment.

Professional simulator training on the desktop

Designed for maximum portability and simple setup, the desktop Vortex Edge Plus makes it easy and affordable for organizations to run CM Labs’ full catalog of construction and forestry equipment training modules anytime, anywhere.

To modernize their training classroom, OETIO purchased a fleet of next-generation CM Labs Vortex simulators and instructor stations for operator training.

CM Labs Simulations’ new training solutions included immersive Vortex Advantage simulators, complete with motion platforms that replicate the feel of equipment at work. This immersiveness, coupled with their engaging built-in pedagogy, professional-grade controls, seating, and best-in-class audiovisuals, allows students to transfer skills learned in the simulator directly to the real machines. In addition, OETIO is leveraging the Vortex Trainer, CM Labs’ desktop training solution. The compact footprint of the Vortex Trainer means that organizations can provide concurrent simulator time to an entire classroom of students.

To ensure coverage of its entire crane and heavy equipment operator training curriculum, OETIO deployed the complete construction training suite from CM Labs, including mobile crane, tower crane, boom truck, excavator, backhoe, wheel loader, and crawler crane operator training.

The training suite is complemented by CM Labs’ instructor stations, which allow trainers to manage simulators and student exercises directly. Instructors can select training scenarios, start the exercises, and introduce faults and weather conditions anytime. Instructors can also provide hand signals, review operations and highlight any aspect of trainee performance from any vantage point.
