The Minds-i Search and Rescue Competition Kit was designed in collaboration with SkillsUSA to challenge students with a real-world robotics mission. This unique opportunity allows teams to design, build, program, and operate a remote-controlled robot through a timed rescue course.

Competition Overview

Teams of two students compete by completing an assigned search and rescue mission using a robot they remotely control from a designated command center. This center is equipped with:

  • A monitor showing the live video feed from an onboard wireless camera attached to the robot
  • A transmitter/remote for robot operation
  • Tables and chairs for setup within the contest field

The mission begins once the robot leaves the starting point, with the challenge ending when the task is completed or time runs out.

Part Restrictions

  • Maximum of 8 motors/servos per robot
  • Only one transmitter/remote allowed
  • One rechargeable battery pack (Max 12V 3000mAH) for drivetrain motor power
  • Must include a wireless camera system mounted on the robot
  • The robot must fit within an 18”x18”x18” area at start, but may expand during the course
