Minds-i SkillsUSA Search and Rescue Competition Kit
CPK-W4X4-001
Build and Operate a Search & Rescue Competition Robot
The MINDS-i SkillsUSA Search and Rescue Competition Kit gives students a rugged, configurable robotics platform for developing the mechanical design, remote operation, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills used in search and rescue robotics challenges.
Built around the MINDS-i 4x4 Robot platform, students can configure and modify their robot for competition tasks while working with four-wheel steering, servo-controlled mechanisms, gear reduction, radio control, and modular construction components.
This kit is designed for remote-controlled robotics competitions and is not intended for competitions that require programming.
Engineering for a Real-World Robotics Challenge
Search and rescue competitions challenge students to think beyond simply assembling a robot. Teams must consider mobility, maneuverability, mechanical design, control, and task performance as they prepare a vehicle to navigate challenging environments and complete assigned objectives.
- Mechanical Design – Build and modify a rugged 4x4 robotic platform.
- Four-Wheel Steering – Explore vehicle maneuverability and steering geometry.
- Remote Operation – Develop precision control and driving skills.
- Servo-Controlled Mechanisms – Create mechanisms for competition tasks.
- Gear Reduction – Investigate the relationship between torque and speed.
- Iterative Design – Test, troubleshoot, modify, and improve the robot for specific challenges.
The kit starts with the MINDS-i 4x4 Robot 3-in-1 platform equipped with four-wheel steering. Its modular construction system allows students to adapt the vehicle and develop mechanisms for different competition challenges.
A 250-piece construction set, rotating connectors, screw adapters, servos, servo linkages, and servo mounting plates provide additional components for designing and modifying the robot.
