A little friendly competition can go a long way – especially when it comes to getting kids excited about gaining some real-life engineering experience. David Manning, professor at Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Engineering Graphics & Design Technology (EGDT), has found great success engaging his students with an annual 3D Design Derby.

Carroll students from Mr. Steve Nathman’s Digital & Interactive Media class successfully launched and flew a drone they had assembled themselves. The drone demonstration took place on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Carroll High School, but these students had been working on the drone assembly since October.

Alaska Department of Corrections' (ADOC) Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) opened in July 2012 and houses over 1,500 inmates. It is a mini-mum and medium custody facility for men. At Rogers High School in Ohio (U.S.A.), there are two stations, one for Simlog’s Hydraulic Excavator Personal Simulator equipped with OEM Controls and the other for Simlog’s Mobile Crane Personal Simulator equipped with Replica Controls.
