Create 2D or 3D animation linked with the circuit, enhancing your schematic and making it more visual for students. Use the 3D editor for creating and importing 3D parts in STEP, STL and IGES.

Simulation Mode

Dynamic, Realistic, and Visual Simulation

The simulation allows the accurate reproduction of the system behaviour in a dynamic and visual way. During simulation, components are animated, lines and wires are colour-coded according to their state.


Select from predefined templates or create your own with the default information of your choice like school logo, BOM, etc.

Cut-Away Animation

The animated component cross-sections illustrate the internal functioning of components. The animations are synchronized with the circuit simulation.

Realistic Measuring Instruments

Realistic measuring tools: multimeter, oscilloscope, hydraulic tester, thermometer and manometer, can be used to reproduce real life measuring experience.


Create or activate pre-defined component failure to develop troubleshooting skills. Failures can be activated by preset conditions or manually during simulation.

Manufacturers' Catalogues

Create and simulate schematics using real life component behaviour from our extensive manufacturers' catalogue that includes PDF specifications and test benches.

Variable Frequency Drives

Motor soft starters and variable frequency drives are available. VFDs are built according to manufacturers’ specifications such as Siemens™, Allen Bradley™, WEG™, etc.

Mechanism Manager

Using the Mechanism Manager, mechanical bodies can be linked to Fluid Power actuators to simulate and animate their effects.

Component Sizing

Calculation worksheets are provided for hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical components which include calculation tools provided with applicable equations and parameter definitions.

Interactive exercises are available for hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical technologies. Each of them include one schematic that is automatically simulated and animated in order to graphically show the behaviour of the function represented.

Automation Studio™ Viewer

The Viewer help users share schematics with anyone who doesn’t possess an Automation Studio™ license. It can display schematics for any technology, plotter curves from the original project as well as various reports.

Manufacturers’ Catalogue Components Update

By selecting the following feature, Automation Studio™ automatically identifies and generates a list of all updates available for manufacturers and custom catalogue components present in the project. Users can then decide for each component if they wish to update it.

Embedding Component

The Embedding Component helps to simplify circuit representation by compacting a set of components into a single symbol. It is integrated in the Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Block Diagram Libraries.

Virtualize Equipment

With Automation Studio™, almost any type of real equipments you have in your lab related to Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical and PLC can be reproduced. Simply create a customizable library that contains the components found on the trainer with the exact same name, symbol, representation and technical specifications. Students can then recreate all the lab experiments in Automation Studio™, validate with the simulation, print out the schematic and then, move on to the hardware for hands-on experience.

Interface to Real Equipments

I/O Interface Kit

Students can use the software as:

  • A SoftPLC trainer to control real devices such as a pneumatic or electric power trainer.
  • PLC simulator trainer system (a real PLC sends signals to the software components.)

Use Automation Studio™ as a PLC Trainer

By using Libraries such as the Electrical Control, Sequential Function Chart, or the PLC Ladder Logic Libraries, Automation Studio™ becomes the tool of choice to teach automated control concepts prior to using a real PLC.

Users benefit from the friendliness of the software and can concentrate on the automation control designs without needing to learn a more difficult PLC programming software. By using the I/O Interface Kit, users can immediately connect Automation Studio™ to external devices found in training labs. Automation Studio™ can then be used as a substitute PLC to control the equipment.

Use Automation Studio™ as an Input/Output Simulator for Real PLC Training

In turn, the I/O Interface Kit can help connect a PLC directly to Automation Studio™. In this mode, Automation Studio™ becomes an Input/Output simulator and will enable users to create PLC programs controlling entirely simulated systems.


Training material is available for each technology. It provides teachers and trainers with the essentials for preparing course curriculum. Automation Studio™ offers guides, manuals, lectures, exercises, animations and labs for all levels of discipline.

Virtual Systems
